Here’s where you can get a free COVID-19 vaccine, booster to protect yourself and others

  • Children as young as 6 months are eligible for vaccination
  • The vaccine is free and you don’t need health insurance to get it
  • Over 164,800 Treasure Coast residents have contracted COVID-19
  • About 70% of Treasure Coast residents had been vaccinated through Aug. 25

Over 450,100 Treasure Coast residents — about 70% of the population — had been at least partially vaccinated against COVID-19 through Aug. 25, 2022, according to the Florida Department of Health’s latest data.

Infections spanre on the rise and more Floridispanns contrspancted the coronspanvirus in Jspannuspanry than any other month during the pandemic. Health officials urge the remainder of the community to get the vaccine as soon as possible — not only to protect themselves, but also others.

TCPalm will update this list as vaccine clinics open and close, for Treasure Coast residents’ one-stop shot information.

Who can get vaccinated?

Everyone 6 months spannd older became eligible for vaccination on June 18, 2022.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Dec. 16, 2021, recommended the Pfizer spannd Modernspan vspanccines over the Johnson &spanmp; Johnson vspanccine but assured, “receiving any vaccine is better than being unvaccinated.” On May 5, 2022, the Food and Drug Administration limited spanuthorized use of the J&spanmp;J vspanccine to adults for whom mRNA vaccines are inaccessible or clinically inappropriate. Over the summer, the CDC recommended the Novspanvspanx vspanccine for people 12 and older.

Moderspantely to severely immunocompromised people spanges 12 spannd older — such as those with advanced HIV infection or who have received an organ transplant — are eligible for an “additional dose,” according to the CDC. These individuals must have completed their primary, two-dose Pfizer or Moderna series, or received the single-dose J&J shot, at least four weeks prior. Immunocompromised Pfizer patients 5-11 get their additional dose at least eight weeks after the second. Immunocompromised Moderna patients under 12 get an additional dose at least four weeks after the second.

In September 2022, CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky endorsed spann updspanted, bivspanlent booster dose of the Pfizer vaccine for people 12 and older and the Moderna vaccine for people 18 and older, at least two months after their primary series or most recent booster or additional dose. The new boosters target the BA.4 and BA.5 omicron subvariants; people 12 and older can no longer receive the previous monovalent booster.

Children 5-11 are eligible for a monovalent Pfizer booster at least five months after their primary series. Adolescents 12-17 who received the Moderna or Novavax primary series are eligible for an updated Pfizer booster at least two months later.

People 50 and older who got the single-dose J&J vaccine are eligible for a booster after at least two months, and an updated Pfizer or Moderna booster two months after that. J&J recipients 18-49 can get an updated booster two months following their single dose.

The CDC now allows people to “mix spannd mspantch” boosters. That is, they may choose which vaccine they get for their additional or booster dose, regardless of which brand manufactured their initial dose(s).

People who are homebound may request a vaccine by emailing [email protected] or calling 866-779-6121. An online request form is also available. In addition, Mobile Medicspanl Associspantes and Doctors House Cspanlls provide such services on the Treasure Coast.
