Jensen Beach’s girls golf team finished in ninth place at the FHSAA 2A State Golf Championships in Howey-in-the-Hills at Mission Inn Resort.

The Falcons shot 356 as a team Wednesday, three shots higher than their opening round total on Tuesday.

Senior Hannah Erwig led the way finishing in a tie for 33rd after shooting rounds of 79 and 87 for Jensen Beach.

Junior Chloe Sebuck finished in a tie for 46th after shooting rounds of 84 and 87. Senior Grace Ayers shot rounds of 89 and 85 to finish in a tie for 53rd, junior Faith Ayers finished in 77th with a two-day total of 198 and senior Kayla Rigel finished in 90th shooting a two-day total of 216.

South Fork’s boys improved 14 shots as a team from the first round and finished in a tie for 14th after shooting a 344 on the El Campeon Course.

The Bulldogs were given a tough blow as star senior Shawn Tyson was forced to withdraw during Tuesday’s opening round after 12 holes.

Tyson, who finished in a tie for second at last year’s 3A state tournament, was the medalist at both the district and regional tournaments for South Fork going into the state tournament.

For South Fork, senior Tyler Foegen led the way finishing in a tie for 34th after shooting rounds of 82 and 80.

Fellow senior Justin King finished in a tie for 60th after shooting rounds of 86 and 83. Juniors Athan Richards and Brady Beebe finished in 85th and 86th shooting two-day totals of 185 and 186 for the Bulldogs.
