INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Two railroad crossing will be closed over the next 10 days for continued construction of Brightline’s higher-speed railroad.
The railroad is upgrading 32 railroad crossings through the county as it completes a $2.7 billion extension of its service from West Palm Beach to Orlando.
Here are the latest railroad-crossing closures and detours to expect this month:

Sebastian
The crossing at Schumann Drive will be closed until 7 p.m. Dec. 12:
- Eastbound traffic will go west on Englar Drive to Barber Street, north to Sebastian Boulevard, northeast to U.S. 1, then south to Schumann Drive
- Westbound traffic will go south on U.S. 1 to Barber Street, then west to Schumann Drive
Winter Beach
The crossing at 69th Street will be closed until 7 p.m. Dec. 15:
- Eastbound traffic will go south on 51st Avenue to 65th Street, east to U.S. 1, then north to 69th Street
- Westbound 69th Street traffic will go south on U.S. 1 to 65th Street, west to 51st Avenue, then north to 69th Street
Brightline’s construction will continue through the end of the year, and passenger service between West Palm Beach and Orlando is expected to begin in 2023.
