At the end of each season, TCPspanlm selects All-Area teams recognizing the top athletes in each sport. Area coaches nominated players from their own teams and from other schools and along with research going through the data for games, meets, matches and tournaments throughout the regular season and postseason, TCPspanlm makes its selections of the All-Area teams.

Runner of the Year

Nicholas Colbert, Jensen Beach

Jensen Beach’s Nicholas Colbert approaches the finish line to take first place in the South Fork Bulldog Classic on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022 at South Fork High School in Martin County. Colbert won with a time of 16:07.30.

Year: Senior

Highlights: Colbert, a Palm Beach Atlantic signee, was a cut above the field locally in his senior season. Colbert started his campaign fast winning his first five races of the season, finished second at the District 7-2A meet running a personal best time of 15:48.2, took third at the Region 4-2A meet and brought home a seventh place finish at the FHSAA 2A Cross Country Championship.

First Team

Kenan Willard, Vero Beach

Year: Sophomore

Vero Beach sophomore Kenan Willard won the boys' race at the Treasure Lake Conference Championship with a time of 16:24.71 on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022.

Highlights: Willard made a big jump in his second high school season, finishing in the top eight in seven of his eight races on the season including a win at the Treasure Lake Conference meet. Running a personal best of 16:01.8 at the Pre-State meet, Willard was third at districts, eighth at regionals and took 36th at the FHSAA 4A Cross Country Championship.

Justin Cannata, Jensen Beach

Year: Senior

Jensen Beach senior Justin Cannata competes in the cross country state championships at Apalachee Regional Park on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022.

Highlights: Cannata had a fantastic final season for the Falcons right behind his teammate Colbert as a potent 1-2 punch. Posting top five finishes in seven of his eight races, Cannata ran a personal best of 16:15 at the South Fork Invite, took third at districts and fifth at regionals before an ankle injury the morning of the state meet put a damper on his season.

Sage Morrow, Vero Beach

Year: Junior

Highlights: Morrow put together a consistent season for Vero, finishing in the top 10 in five races including a race win at the District 6-4A meet running a personal best time of 16:19.1. Morrow ran sub-17 minutes six times, took 11th at regionals and finished 59th at the FHSAA 4A Cross Country Championship.

Caleb Wikinson, Sebastian River

Year: Junior

Highlights: Wilkinson had another strong season for the Sharks, posting top 10 finishes in eight races including five top fives. Running sub-17 minutes for times, Wilkinson was fifth at districts, 21st at regionals and ran a personal best time of 16:33.1 to take 22nd at the FHSAA 3A Cross Country Championship.

Carter Vigneri, South Fork

Year: Senior

Highlights: Vigneri surged at the back end of the season, placing third at the Treasure Lake Conference meet, took seventh at districts and ran a personal best of 16:50.9 to take 18th at the Region 4-3A meet. Vigneri took 38th at the FHSAA 3A Cross Country Championships.

Colton Russano, Sebastian River

Year: Sophomore

Highlights: Russano ran well all season for the Sharks posting five top 10 finishes including two top threes. Russano ran a personal best of 17:03 to take 10th at the District 7-3A meet, was 22nd at regionals and took 58th at the FHSAA 3A Cross Country Championship.

Richie Paluszek, South Fork

Year: Senior

Highlights: Paluszek had a consistent final season for the Bulldogs, posting five finishes in the top 20. Running a personal best time of 17:11 at the District 7-3A meet, Paluszek was 24th at regionals and 85th at the FHSAA 3A Cross Country Championship.

Evan Dunham, Vero Beach

Year: Junior

Highlights: Dunham was incredibly consistent with his times all season for Vero, posting a personal best time of 17:13.2 in his first race of the year. Dunham had four top 10’s, including a fourth at districts, was 25th at regionals and took 82nd at the FHSAA 4A Cross Country Championship.

Thiago de Souza, Treasure Coast

Year: Senior

Highlights: de Souza posted a strong final high school season for the Titans with four top 10 finishes including a sixth at districts and ran a personal best time of 17:17.4 at the Region 3-4A meet.

Highlights: Under Day, the Sharks continued to make strides as a team as they finished third at districts, fifth at regionals and after qualifying for state for the second year in a row placed 13th at the 3A Championships to lead all area teams.
