MARTIN COUNTY — Sheriff’s deputies Friday found the body of a 20-year-old who went missing near Port Mayaca following a law enforcement pursuit around Stuart and Indiantown earlier in the week, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
Tyrone Miles Jr., 20, of Belle Glade, was suspected of driving a stolen vehicle and did not stop as deputies attempted to pull him over in the Stuart area Tuesday, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.

Deputies pursued the vehicle near Stuart, but stopped the chase because Miles was recklessly driving, the release stated.
Miles was spotted in the vehicle again in Indiantown and deputies proceeded to pursue Miles in that area after he did not pull over for another traffic stop, deputies said.
After traveling toward Port Mayaca, Miles bailed from the vehicle and fled on foot, investigators said.
Despite an extensive manhunt, deputies were unable to find Miles. Investigators said they found a backpack with his identification inside.
Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office listed Miles as a missing person Thursday and requested assistance from Martin County deputies.

Investigators located his body near a canal Friday morning about a half mile away from where he ran from deputies, according to the sheriff’s news release.
Family members identified Miles based on tattoos visible on his body, investigators said.
The body was sent to the medical examiners office for further investigation, the release stated.
