PORT ST. LUCIE — A 29-year-old pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle Thursday morning on Southwest Savona Boulevard, Port St. Lucie police said.
Police about 1:40 a.m. went to the 2900 block of Southwest Savona Boulevard, and a preliminary investigation determined a Chevrolet Malibu traveling south on Southwest Savona Boulevard struck a pedestrian walking south in the roadway.

The pedestrian, Courtney Jenkins, of Port St. Lucie, was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
The location is east of Interstate 95 and just south of Southwest Savona and Southwest Gatlin boulevards.
Jenkins was pushing a shopping cart with groceries heading home at the time, said Sgt. John Dellacroce, police spokesperson.

The driver and passenger of the Chevrolet were not hurt.
The driver was a 30-year-old man, and the passenger was a 26-year-old man, according to Sgt. John Dellacroce, police spokesman. Both are Port St. Lucie residents.
Dellacroce said police do not suspect the driver was impaired.
