Nestled in the Martin Downs Village Center you will find Brick Oven Pizza Company. Believe it or not, I had never been there before, but I can assure you I will be back soon!
The menu is quite large for such a cozy place. Offering starters such as antipasto, rice balls, a sampler platter and more, including salads, heroes, and wraps. Entrees include veal, eggplant, chicken, and shrimp prepared several different ways.

Pasta dishes such as tortellini, lasagna, spaghetti, and more including a seldom seen savory Beggar’s Purse entrée which features four cheese and pear stuffed pasta tossed in a port wine cream sauce with green peas and shitake mushrooms ($17.99).
Our server, Jennifer, was a hoot. What a great personality and very knowledgeable about the menu. She recommended we try the garlic knots ($5.50) and they were good, but dense and filling. They were well seasoned and came with sweet tomato dipping sauce.
My husband loves Chicken Francese ($21.99) and the chef’s preparation was excellent. The chicken was tender and delicately sauteed with a tangy burst of lemon in the buttery sauce. He accompanied it with delicate Angel Hair pasta.
Entrees are served with the soup du jour or a house salad.
Not likely to eat anything remotely healthy, he chose the soup du jour which was mushroom asiago. It was brimming with hearty sautéed mushrooms in a thick, sweet & sour, buttery asiago cheese cream.
Along with traditional New York style pizza, the restaurant offers Old World Sicilian, Grandma Pie (one of my personal favorites), along with calzones and stuffed rolls with many different toppings and fillings. Gluten free and cauliflower crusts are also available.
While perusing the specialty pizza menu I found one that I simply couldn’t resist, the My Cousin Vinny (medium size $16.99). Not only one of my favorite movies, but the pizza was fabulous as well. The sauce was a roasted red pepper cream, topped with fresh mozzarella, roasted red, yellow, and green peppers, sweet Italian sausage, and red onions topped with imported parmigiano reggiano cheese and fresh basil. Talk about a party on your palate, I was found guilty of eating too much of it and sentenced to three days of Slimfast.
Seriously though, give this place a try the next time you’re craving Italian food. I know I will.
