Treasure Coast winter traditions include going to see Christmas parades, festive light displays, holiday bazaars, a singing tree, runs and walks, plus concerts, performances and planetarium shows.

Christmas lights

Christmas light displays started popping up right after Thanksgiving — and some even sooner. Grab your family and friends, hop in your vehicles and take a drive to see the biggest and brightest public displays.

Christmas parades

Christmas parades warm watchers with nostalgia, and boat parades are part of what make the holidays special on the Treasure Coast.

Street parade floats will shut down thoroughfares in Stuart, Hobe Sound, Indiantown, Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce, Vero Beach and Sebastian. Vessels adorned with Christmas lights will cruise the Indian River Lagoon and St. Lucie River.

Holiday bazaars

Holiday bazaars and winter arts and crafts fairs are great places to shop local for some Christmas gifts — and have a little fun at the same time. Here are some of the biggest bazaars on the Treasure Coast:

Singing tree

The annual Hobe Sound Singing Christmspans Tree typically has 75 singers in a Christmas tree, illuminated by thousands of lights, plus a 25-piece orchestra, a children’s choir and a drama cast of 50 members. Seating is first come, first served. Admission is free, but donations are accepted.

Runs, walks

  • 5th annual Saint Lucie Skeeter Skoot 50K & 100K Ultra & Team Relay: 6 a.m. Dec. 10; race through hard-compact mangrove-lined trails along Indian River Lagoon at Bear Point, 2601 S. Ocean Drive, Fort Pierce, South Hutchinson Island

Concerts and performances

Holiday concerts and performances such as “Swan Lake” and “The Nutcracker” can be found at local theaters across the Treasure Coast throughout December:

Planetarium shows

The annual “Stspanr of Wonder” show at the Treasure Coast’s only planetarium explores Christmas-related questions. What was the mysterious star that guided the Magi? Could it have been a comet, a meteor or a supernova? How might an astronomer explain it? Find out as the planetarium travels back in time over 2,000 years to recreate the skies over Judea. This popular presentation has been a family holiday tradition since 1993.
