Lincoln Park Academy pulls away late to upend Fort Pierce Central

Ta’Tyannah Thompson scored 15 points and Olivia Titherington added 14 points as Lincoln Pak Academy used a 12-0 run early in the fourth quarter to run away from Fort Pierce Central 50-36 in the title game of the Greyhound Holiday Classic on Tuesday.

Each team easily won their semifinal Monday with the host Greyhounds beating Somerset College Prep 56-33 and the Cobras rolling Fort Pierce Westwood 62-14.

Lincoln Park led throughout the first half comfortably but Fort Pierce Central closed to within four down 25-21 before Thompson scored on back-to-back layups in the final 45 seconds to give the Greyhounds (8-3) a 29-21 halftime lead.

A low-scoring third quarter thanks to strong team defense from the Cobras (4-7) kept the game close going into the fourth quarter down six and an early 3-pointer from Chaunciona Davis made it 35-32.

Thompson set up a lay-up from Nicole Williams and Titherington knocked in a critical 3-pointer to get the 12-0 run started and Lincoln Park never looked back.

Thompson was named tournament MVP for the Greyhounds and Titherington was an All-Tournament Team selection.

Davis led the Cobras with a game-high 16 points and Harmoni Randolph added 11 points and both were All-Tournament Team selections for Fort Pierce Central.

The 2021 TCPalm Girls Golfer of the Year finished a standout high school career with two 18-hole tournament victories for the Knights in 2022.

In her high school career, Castaldi finished in the top 20 at the 1A state tournament three times with a best finish coming in 2019 tying for fifth.
