The 2022-23 girls bspansketbspanll season along the Treasure Coast saw a number of teams have steady seasons and five programs earned postseason bids despite the area not having a district champion.
Jensen Beach put together one of its best seasons in program history with 17 wins and a regional semifinal appearance in 5A while Vero Beach backed up a 7A state semifinal trip last season with a regional semifinal appearance.
Lincoln Park Academy, Centennial and Martin County also made postseason appearances after finishing the regular season with winning records.
TCPalm’s All-Area team represents the best of the best in girls basketball across the area and this year’s edition features a mix of veterans who have starred for most of their careers and a host of newcomers that emerged as key scorers and playmakers for their teams.
Out of all of the area’s top players, leading this year’s teams is a double-double machine who finished her career strong down at Jensen Beach.

Player of the Year
Lauren Cioffi, Jensen Beach
Year: Senior
Highlights: One of the area’s most skilled players throughout her career, Cioffi continued being the focal point for the Falcons with a standout senior season. Averaging 13.1 points, 11.8 rebounds and 3.5 steals a game, Cioffi had 14 double-doubles and scored in double figures in 19 games leading a young roster to a 5A regional semifinal.
First Team
Ratajah Dawson, Vero Beach
Year: Senior
Highlights: The area’s best two-way player held things together for Vero Beach during an up-and-down year with injuries as Dawson averaged 10.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.8 steals a game leading the team to a 7A regional semifinal.
Ty’kiria Benjamin, Centennial
Year: Sophomore
Highlights: Benjamin made a huge leap in production from her freshman year as she led the Eagles in scoring and registered 16 games in which she scored in double figures.
Kaeley Ciceron, Somerset College Prep
Year: Freshman
Highlights: Leading the Spartans to a 13-8 record, Ciceron was dynamic scoring the ball, averaging 19.7 points and added 6.9 rebounds and 4.9 steals a night. Ciceron had eight games with 20 points or more and scored in doubles figures in 20 out of 21 games.
Lizzie Fitzwater, Jensen Beach
Year: Freshman
Highlights: Stepping right into a key role for the Falcons, Fitzwater averaged 11.8 points a game at point guard. Fitzwater scored in double figures 14 times for Jensen Beach.
Olivia Titherington, Lincoln Park Academy
Year: Freshman
Highlights: Titherington took a nice step up after her eighth grade year for the Greyhounds, averaging 12 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists as the point guard. Titherington scored in double figures 13 times and had 10 games with five or more assists.
