A system moving ahead of a warm front started moving across the Panhandle Thursday night, and could bring several rain showers and a few thunderstorms to the Panhandle, according to the Floridspan Depspanrtment of Emergency Mspannspangement.
Behind the warm front it is a cold front.
The combination could bring some severe weather and strong thunderstorms to the northern Gulf Coast and Panhandle today, with stronger storms possible in the afternoon as the day warms. Up to 2 inches of rain are possible along the Panhandle.

The cold front attached to the system is forecast to reach the Panhandle Saturday morning and move west into Sunday.
Since the storm will be hitting northern areas of the state to close out the holiday weekend, rain and poor visibility may lead to flight delays, especially in the Northeast, according to AccuWespanther.
As the cold front moves southeast across the state Sunday and into Monday, there’s a chance for light rain along the Nature Coast and Northeast Florida.
Behind the front, dry conditions are expected across the state.
An area of high pressure is expected to dominate into early next week and provide slightly cooler-than-normal temperatures across the northern parts of the state. Temperatures overnight Sunday and into early Monday morning will drop back into the upper 40s and lower 50s for portions of the Panhandle.
High temperatures for Monday are forecast to reach the 70s almost across the entire state, except for South Florida where temperatures are forecast to reach the lower 80s by the afternoon.
