PORT ST. LUCIE − A pedestrian was critically injured Friday morning after being struck by a vehicle on South U.S. 1 in the area of Southeast Jennings Road, a Port St. Lucie Police spokesperson said.
The incident happened at 5 a.m. as the pedestrian tried to cross South U.S. 1 from west to east just south of Southeast Jennings Road, said Sgt. John Dellacroce, police spokesperson.
The pedestrian, an adult, was not in a crosswalk, he said.

The pedestrian was struck by a sport utility vehicle traveling south on South U.S. 1. A four-door sedan then struck the SUV, Dellacroce said.
The pedestrian was taken to a hospital in critical condition, while the motorists were not hurt, he said.
No other information was immediately available.
