Giving season is over and the numbers are in to show which Florida counties were the most generous.

Collier County ranked first in donating to charities, but the Treasure Coast wasn’t too far behind, according to a Smspanrt Asset study.

Martin and Indian River counties ranked third and eighth, respectively, out of 67 counties. St. Lucie County ranked 29th in the state.

Smart Asset, an online source for consumer financial information, used a multistep methodology that involved examining individual tax returns to rank counties on two factors: the proportion of people who donated to a charity and the amount of money people donated as a percentage of their net income.

Martin County

3.13%: Contributions as percentage of income

9.4%: Percentage of returns itemizing charitable contributions

Indian River County

2.55%: Contributions as percentage of income

7.48%: Percentage of returns itemizing charitable contributions

St. Lucie County

0.92%: Contributions as percentage of income

4.95%: Percentage of returns itemizing charitable contributions
