PORT ST. LUCIE − A 21-year-old man was arrested on a vehicular homicide charge in connection with a crash last year that ultimately left a 71-year-old driver dead, according to records obtained Thursday.
Mccenroe Davansky Duroseau, of the 100 block of North 38th Street in Fort Pierce, was arrested March 15 following a Port St. Lucie police investigation into the Aug. 25, 2022, crash on Northwest Selvitz Road.
The 71-year-old man succumbed to his injuries three days after the collision at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, a police spokesperson has said.

Investigators determined Duroseau drove south on Northwest Selvitz Road at more than double the 35 mph speed limit when his Toyota Camry entered the northbound lanes, striking a Honda Civic before crashing head on with a Buick Encore, driven by the 71-year-old man.
Police calculated Duroseau was traveling at least 80 mph in the incident, using data collected from the vehicle. Duroseau and a passenger were taken to Lawnwood with non life-threatening injuries, records show.
The Honda driver was taken to Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital in Port St. Lucie with non life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses reported Duroseau’s vehicle appeared to have been following another at a “high rate” of speed before the crash. One witness said it seemed like “The Daytona 500,” a report states.

An autopsy determined the 71-year-old man died as a result of “complications of multiple blunt force injuries,” records show.
Vehicular homicide is a criminal charge linking a death to the operation of a vehicle “in a reckless manner” likely to cause death or serious bodily harm.
Police did not release the name of the 71-year-old man who died, citing Marsy’s law.

Some law enforcement officials have interpreted the statute as applying to any victim, as well as to law enforcement officers being entitled to privacy and having their identity protected.
An attorney for Duroseau was not listed on the St. Lucie County Clerk’s website.
He was released March 16 from the St. Lucie County Jail on $15,000 bond, a sheriff’s official said Thursday.
