It’s time to vote for TCPalm’s Athlete of the Week for Oct. 31-Nov. 5

Nine student athletes are in consideration for TCPalm’s Athlete of the Week for competitions during the week of Oct. 31-Nov. 5.

Last week, Lincoln Park Academy swimmer Dillon Spooner was voted Athlete of the Week receiving 58 percent of the ballot and almost 6,800 votes.

Jensen Beach beats Vanguard in the 5A state semifinal volleyball match, Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, at Jensen Beach High School.

Spooner won both the 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle at the District 6-1A Championship on Nov. 2.

Coaches can email scores to [email protected] or [email protected] each night in order for athletes to be considered to be nominated each week.

This week, voting takes place beginning at noon Monday and will close Thursday at noon.

Mitchell Ledford, Sebastian River

Ledford won two gold medals at Friday’s FHSAA 3A Swimming and Diving Championships, repeating as the 100 butterfly champion with a time of 46.33 and also won the 100 backstroke with a time of 48.47. Ledford also helped the 200 medley relay team take a bronze medal and helped the 400 freestyle relay finish sixth.

Nicholas Colbert, Jensen Beach

At Saturday’s FHSAA State Cross Country Championships, Colbert ran 16:10.9 to finish in seventh overall in the boys’ 3A race.

Addison Boyer, South Fork

At Saturday’s FHSAA State Cross Country Championships, Boyer ran 18:43.1 to finish seventh overall in the girls’ 3A race.

Jacey Lane, Lincoln Park Academy

At Saturday’s FHSAA State Cross Country Championships, Lane ran a personal best time of 18:43.4 to finish 12th in the girls’ 2A race.

Sophia Gannascoli, Jensen Beach

In the Falcons’ regional final against Suncoast and state semifinal against Vanguard, Gannascoli had standout performances defensively as Jensen Beach’s libero combining for 23 digs in the team’s two victories.

Quinn Bostic, Somerset College Prep

Bostic bowled a four-game series of 977 to qualify second individually at the FHSAA State Bowling Championships in Orlando on Wednesday and won three matches in bracket play to finish third in the state.

Nancy Roberts, Port St. Lucie

Roberts bowled a three-game series of 591 to finish 25th at the FHSAA State Bowling Championships in Orlando on Tuesday.

Shawn Tyson, South Fork

Tyson shot a 1-over 72 to win medalist honors at the Region 2-2A Championship on Monday helping the Bulldogs win the team championship.

Abby Halpern, Martin County

Halpern shot her best 18-hole round of the postseason, carding a 7-over 79 at Tuesday’s Region 2-3A Championship to finish in a tie for 17th.
