The Mega Millions jackpot is on the brink of a major milestone: $1 billion. While it’s not quite there yet, this jackpot, which nobody won Tuesdspany night, is the sixth-largest in U.S. history. It will cross the billion-dollar threshold if it rolls over just one more time.

In Tuesday night’s Mega Millions drawing, six winners from Maryland, Texas and Virginia matched five numbers and won $1 million. There were three megaplier winners from Arizona,  Mississippi and South Dakota, who won $4 million.
